ESA’s Electronic Security Expo (ESX) brings it all together – innovative keynote speakers, an exciting Expo floor where industry manufacturers showcase their latest products and technologies, fun networking and social events, and an educational program that delivers tactical guidance on topics like RMR opportunities, workforce challenges, emerging technologies, AI-driven monitoring, sales strategies, and operational efficiency; all designed for today’s security and life safety professionals. But it gets even better – not only does the ESX educational program deliver best practices and new concepts across several different tracks, it also delivers the coveted Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) that the electronic security industry requires integrators and techs to have to stay up to date on the latest technologies and best practices.
Although the licensing and CEU requirements for electronic security industry technicians vary by state and certification, most states require technicians to earn a certain number of CEUs every two years to maintain their certification. Some states, for example, require 24 hours for Quality Assurance (QA) and Installer certifications, while others may have different requirements.
Technicians must keep their certifications current by earning the required CEUs and maintaining their licenses. This is often mandated by accrediting entities or state boards. And yes, while each state has its own regulations and requirements for licensing and CEUs, it’s important for technicians to remember that they must renew their certifications within a specific timeframe, typically within three years. The renewal process may include submitting the proper documentation and completing additional training or education. Adhering to these requirements is essential for maintaining certification and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
ESX is the ideal forum for attendees to earn these coveted CEUs. They’re being offered by ESA’s National Training School (NTS) as well as many other industry entities including the Louisiana State Fire Marshall, Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure, Mississippi Electronic Protection Systems Division, Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Attendees may receive up to 8 hours of CEUs contingent upon verified class attendance records. In addition, Texas installers can earn up to 6 CEU hours through ESX education and complete their license renewal by taking two additional online courses – Ethical Client Relations and National Electrical Code as it Applies to Fire Alarm Systems.
ESX’s carefully curated peer-to-peer curriculum reflects ESA’s commitment to building a strong community that empowers security professionals with indispensable knowledge, practical strategies, and valuable connections. These educational courses provide actionable insights and foster growth for industry leaders and practitioners alike, all delivered by seasoned experts.
The complete lineup of ESX educational courses is listed on the ESA website at Upcoming ESX Events | Plan for 2026. And, to obtain verified attendance records for CEUs, please contact NTS@esaweb.org.
