James Kruger, is currently the Director of Law Enforcement Relations for BluePoint Alert Solutions. He is a 42-year law enforcement veteran, serving twenty years as a chief executive and is an Illinois Certified Police Chief.
Chief Kruger served as President of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police in 2017-2018. He also served as President of the DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association, past president of the Advisory Board of Directors of North East Multiregional Training (NEMRT), past member of the Advisory Council of the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy, Secretary of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS), member of the FBI Chicago JTTF Executive Board and Past Chair the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency Police Chiefs Steering Committee and Board member of Fight Crime Invest in Kids.
Chief Kruger was selected as the 2022 Police Chief of the Year by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and received the President’s Award in 2020-21. The Illinois State Crime Commission recognized him with the Award of Distinction in Law Enforcement in 2018 and recognized by the Commission in 2008 with the Excellence in Law Enforcement Award. He also received the Law Enforcement Official of the Year Award from the Illinois Security Professionals Association in 2017, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Judson University in 2009, and the Meritorious Service Award from the Northwest Police Association in 1995 for actions taken with an armed suspect.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Leadership from Judson University, Elgin, Illinois and a Master of Science from National-Louis University, Chicago. Kruger is a 1994 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command Class #75 and also completed the FBI Midwest Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar in 2010.
