Mike is Founder and President of Provident Security Corp. which has offices in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia.

Mike started the company in 1996 with a $500 limit Mastercard.

Originally headquartered in his bedroom, Provident was a tool to pay tuition for a Criminology degree at Simon Fraser University. After a brief time as a Special Constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Mike decided to focus full time on growing the business.

Provident was started to provide security for high school dances, but quickly grew into one of Vancouver’s premier security firm providing personal protection and event security services for clients including Elton John, Britney Spears as well as senior politicians and business executives from throughout North America.

Provident has since grown to more than 200 employees and is the only security firm in North America that provides installation, service, monitoring and guaranteed five-minute response to client’s alarm systems.

In 2001, at age 26, Mike was recognized by Business in Vancouver magazine as the youngest ever recipient of the 40 under 40 award.

Provident has been recognized three times as one of the 25 Best Places to Work by BC Business Magazine. In 2011, Provident was recognized at the North American ‘Installation Company of the Year’ by Security Sales & Integration Magazine.

Doing his own public and media relations, Mike has been responsible for having Provident featured in over 700 publications.

Mike was the 2010 President of EO Vancouver (Entrepreneurs’ Organization) and is a graduate of the Birthing of Giants program at MIT.

As a public speaker, Mike has spoken to business groups throughout North America about Marketing, Going Paperless, Burglary Prevention & Entrepreneurship. Speaking engagements have included the Entrepreneurs Organization, Forum for Women Entrepreneurs as well as the Fortune Magazine Sales & Marketing Summits.
